DISC (DISG®) - Personality Model

WHAT IS BEHIND THE DISC MODEL?

Sometimes you meet people and ask yourself, "What makes him or her tick?". DISC is a simple and effective model that describes four basic behavioral styles and helps to better understand others. The DISC model refers to a self-descriptive personality test with the basic behavioral tendencies of Dominance (D), Initiative (I), Steadiness (S) and Conscientiousness (C).

According to the DISC model, each person has a unique style composed of different behavioral preferences. No one style is better or worse than another. The diversity of people is enriching and enables a deeper understanding, and thus better communication, at work, because you can classify others more easily.

WHAT ARE THE FOUR MAIN TYPES FOUND IN THE DISC MODEL?

The four main behaviors of the DISC model can be characterized as follows:
Type D: Dominant. People who correspond primarily to the D-type are assertive, results-oriented, willing to take risks, decisive, consistent, and direct. They are assertive and like to take charge.

Type I: Initiative. I-types are very communicative, like to make contacts, and are born entertainers. They can uplift and inspire others and are characterized by a sunny disposition, optimism, and versatility.

Type S: Steady. Type S people are likeable, helpful, loyal-conservative, steady, and patient. They like to stick to work processes once they have been established and tend to shy away from rapid changes.

Type G: Conscientious. G-people are quality-conscious and strive for perfection. They question critically, analyze, and focus on facts. They also like to adopt already defined work processes if these ensure high-quality results.

HOW IS THE DISC MODEL USED IN EVERYDAY BUSINESS?

DISC is worthwhile in places where the communication and cooperation of people is the focus.

  • The personal assessment and evaluation of the results are done online.
  • Precise feedback is provided with the help of algorithms and an adaptive assessment method.
  • The assessment results are application-oriented and can be used by individuals in coaching as well as by team members or managers to better understand themselves and others.
